Renowned Chef Andrew Bachelier (Campfire, Jeune et Jolie*, Atelier Manna) and skateboarding legend Tony Hawk have brought their vision to life with Chick & Hawk. This partnership brings together the worlds of culinary excellence and skate/surf culture, creating a vibrant, one-of-a-kind dining experience right here in the birthplace of skateboarding… Encinitas, California.

A chance meeting in 2020 sparked an unlikely friendship between Bachelier and Hawk, revealing a shared passion for food, culture, and community. After months of dreaming and exciting pop-ups throughout North County San Diego, Chick & Hawk has officially taken flight in the historic Fulano's building in Leucadia.

Inspired by the vibrant colors and nostalgic spirit of the '90s, Chick & Hawk embraces the gritty, artistic expression of skate culture while delivering uncompromising quality in food and drink. Our kitchen’s offerings are centered around crispy, hot fried chicken, anchored by our signature sandwich, “The Birdman.” This perfect bite features a fried chicken thigh, sweet & spicy pickles, kimchi ‘comeback’ sauce, and tangy slaw on a potato brioche bun. In a nod to Tony’s legendary feats, the spice levels are offered at 180, 360, 720, and the hottest at 900.

We proudly utilize local farms and cook exclusively without seed oils, emphasizing the use of the highest quality ingredients available to us—preparing the majority of our components from scratch every day. Beyond the perfect bite of chicken, guests can explore splashes of local seafood, an adventurous cocktail program, unique brews, and a selection of thoughtful, low-intervention sparkling wines from around the world.
